The Hangman Series
HANGMAN.EXE is a single player program with easy, difficult
and tricky words. There are more than 460 words in the program
at this time. You can now turn the sound OFF/ON in this version.
You can now add words just like you can to the Children's Hangman.
If you do not create HANGMAN.TXT the program uses it's internal
list of words. You can have up to 500 words in the text file.
There have been some bug corrections. Version 4.0 corrects some
color errors in version 3.02. If you had a mono system there
were still some color calls.
HANGMN51.ZIP I corrected an error in the .TXT files that come
with the program. I made the mistake of copying the WordPerfect
5.0 copies to my archive directory instead of the ASCII copy
that the program reads in. I am sorry for this oversight on my
part.
HANGMAN2.EXE is a multiple player version. From 2 to 15 people
can play this program at one time. Up to 12 words may be entered.
Each player, in turn, tries to spell the words that have been
entered into the program. Of 15 people, one enters the words and
the other 14 try to guess them.
HANGMAN2.DOC is the documentation for running HANGMAN2.EXE but
the program can be run just fine without it. Most information does
appear on the screen and there is a built in Help File with some
basic helps in it.
CHANGMAN.EXE This is a children's verson of HANGMAN.EXE. The program
is exactly the same but for the words. You can create your own word
list called WORDS.TXT with one word to a line created with any word
processor that can save an ASCII file. You can also use DOS's EDLIN
to create the file. The program comes with a sample WORDS.TXT you
can use, modify or delete. If the WORDS.TXT file is not found the
program uses its own 253 internal list. The list you generate can be
up to 500 words.
HANGMN52.ZIP Some minor changes were made to all programs in the
archive. Changes were made to the opening and closing screens.
HANGMN53.ZIP I corrected the display problem with the heckler's
sayings. This error would have started when I set up the program
so the user could use their own words. This was an oversight on
my part. The Children's Hangman was correct and I did not have
to change anything in it.
HANGMN54.ZIP I corrected a display error in the CHANGMAN.EXE
program when user did not enter a name. The versions in this
archive are compiled using QuickBASIC 4.5 and are stand alone
programs (do not require the presence of BRUN30.EXE as needing
in earlier versions).
HANGMN55.ZIP I changed the order of entry into the program so
that the shareware information does not come up and the
user goes directly to the menu.
HANGMN60.ZIP HANGMAN.EXE and CHANGMAN.EXE are not compatible
with earlier versions. HANGMAN2.EXE is also a whole new version.
These programs are now written in Turbo Pascal 5.5. HANGMAN.LST
and CHANGMAN.LST must be in the same directory as the related
programs. Read HANGMAN.DOC for more details. Delete all existing
Hangman and Children's Hangman files from earilier versions. Even
the score files are different.
HANGMN61.ZIP HANGMAN2.EXE has been upgraded. I discovered several
errors and have corrected them. My filter for unwanted characters
was not working, it works now. I would not have caught the problems
with the program (no one reported them) had I not been working to
clean up the code (make it better). All the Hangman programs
(HANGMAN.EXE, CHANGMAN.EXE and HANGMAN2.EXE) have been internally
changed. The most changes were done to the Hangman Two program
and because of the mass changes I ask you to report any problems
with the program so I can correct them. My testing, this time,
has been exstensive, but all problems do not always show up under
testing.
Version 6.2. HANGMAN.EXE, CHANGMAN.EXE and HANGMAN2.EXE have all
been updated. Program is now compiled un Borland Pascal 7.0 (TP
7.0). The problem with the DELAY command inside Turbo Pascal has
been corrected so I had to rewrite all the delays, sounds, etc. so
that everything worked with the new Pascal package. The score file
format has changed. Make sure you delete any current score files
from either Hangman or Children's Hangman. If you get a messed up
display then you know you must delete it and start over. I have
added the time to the score displays.
I'm still looking for user feedback on these programs. I know there
are still mono systems out there and I am considering changing over
to a graphics based program verses the current character based
program, that is if it is possible to rewrite and still keep the basic
feel of the character based versions. Currently they run on any kind
of system regardless of display types, but so many people are after
graphic based programs these days. Would like to know your feelings
on this issue.
HANGMN63.ZIP Changed all *.EXE programs to show that it is now $10 to
register the Hangman Series, not $5 per program. The DOC files also
reflect this change. Had intended to do this for a while. Nothing else
has changed. Also changes versions to show 6.30/3.20 correctly.
Hangman Series 6.4. Changed all programs to reflect that the are part
of "Series Verison 6.4" and this is to be used on all future versions.
Hangman, Children's Hangman and Hangman Two all have "Series Version
6.4" as their version number.
The Score File format has changed so it is suggested that if you are
using an earlier version to delete the score files on Hangman and
Children's Hangman from inside the program with the menu option.
On the high score displays I have high lighted the user name making
it a little more pleasent.
Exit screens now use the users' system background color so the
programs look better when exiting to DOS. I have high lighted all
key prompts making the program easier to understand and much nicer
to look at. Just little changes here and there.
Play in the programs is pretty much the same, a few displays are
different. Most changes are to make the program look a litte better,
clearer, etc.
I have added HUCKABEY.TXT to the archive which is a list of all my
software. Please see it for details on getting a copy of all my
software. Also added an ARCHIVE.TXT so the user know what should and
should not be in the arhicve.
============ o =============
To print out the documentions type in the following commands for
each file using their own names:
TYPE HANGMAN2.DOC > PRN
PRINT HANGMAN2.DOC (at least with dos 5.0)
and press (ENTER). The documentations are preformatted to have a
punchable border on the left sides. The programs do contain a basic
help routine.
